The Colac Crew

Well,we just had to tell you this one....

While on our Great Ocean Road Tour we stayed a night in Apollo Bay and decided to go out on the town and give them a taste of Canada! We went to the local pub and were quickly bombarded by a group of old men...calling us Damn Yankees - we set them straight pretty fast! Apparently they were there for the entire week (they come every year from a place called Colac) celebrating and betting on The Melbourne Cup. Needless to say, we humoured them all night - taught them a few things and listened to their crayfish and cattle stories! haha Infact, we even got an address and promised to send them the recipe for PRAIRIE OYSTERS, they sure got a kick out of hearing that we eat "gonads" some times! I told them it could be the next big thing in Aussie and they could make millions! Hehe. We kept them up later than their usual bedtime and promised to meet them for fish and chips the next day, they had absolutely NO FAITH that we would show because they knew we were going touring...

Well, we were up at 6am and out on the road and by 2 (the promised time of meeting) we made it to the other pub and there they were all waiting for us - Shaven, smellin good and dressed up in "Colac Crew" shirts they had made for the occasion! We had a good laugh and they bought us lunch which turned out to be Gummy Shark, aka Flake, and we had our first real fish n chips experience on the East Coast. It was great! We took some pics, bought them a pot of beer each and Cally scored a Crew Shirt from the deal...it'll be coming home for sure! Then we headed off for bigger and better...

So here we are in Sydney looking out at Bondi Beach. We'll be spending the day soaking up the sun tomorrow and seeing the sites (Although we already drove over the Harbour Bridge - by ACCIDENT of course!) Hope you are having a good time in the snow...SUCKERS!

PS~ No worries to the boys at home in regards to the Colac Crew: we're talking mullets and missing teeth...which makes it even funnier! Later skaters!!!
