The Mel-BURN Cup
Well, we made it to OZ! Our ankles have become cankles from the 17.5 hour plane ride (15 hours of which we were UNAWARE that the booze was complimentary! Whoops) We landed in Melbourne about 11 this morning and have been walking the streets...we stumbled upon the infamous Melbourne Cup live party at Federation Square and watched the big race on a huge screen while drinking some Hahns. The race lasted all of 2 minutes (of which this is a public holiday for) and Makybe Diva, the Australian horse, won the race so there were cheers all around. All the ladies were dressed in pretty dresses with HUGE hats or flowers in there hair; apparently there is a a contest for best dressed. It was neat.It was a hot 25 degrees today and going for 32 tomorrow so we are loving the warmth and have already aquired a bit of a burn. WE pick up the car tomorrow and I am super excited (and scared) to see what will happen when we try to drive the streets the wrong way! Cally called dibs on the driver seat so pray for us with all your might!!! We are heading to the Great Ocean Road - for those of you that haven't heard of it or want to learn more there is a link to the right you can click on to check it out.
One thing we have learned: check the price before you buy...I got a piece of banana bread and a water when we got in and it was $9! A small pop is $2.80! Thank goodness we are camping from here on out!
Well, we are off to the hostel to put our legs up so our ankles can drain (Karen is scared they may burst like overcooked hotdogs!) Ozzie and out!

I told you pop was expensive!!! Sigh. I SO wish I was back there with you. The GOR was the only reason we went that far south and it was so worth it. It's also the only place we saw signs reminding people to drive on the left side of the road, so you should do okay getting used to that!

Just buy the pop, don't get a job selling it, you KNOW what could happen. Have fun, but not too much, mommy

Hi Chatty,
$9 for banana bread and water! I think you better stick to the beer.
Have fun!
